HIRING INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT FOR SOS TECHNICAL SCHOOL-KAGUGU DISCIPLINARY MASTER

1. Background
SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda is an independent, non-governmental social development organization. The Organization supports vulnerable children and young people in four locations of Kigali, Byumba, Kayonza, and Gikongoro. SOS Rwanda applies a one program approach in its education and family strengthening that support a holistic approach in the interest of the child. In this regard, SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda seeks to recruit one competent Director of Discipline for its Technical High School based in Kigali Gasabo District.
SOS Technical high school is located at Kagugu, a new suburb area that has high modern buildings for commercial set up and high-end residential structures. The school was in existence since 2005 and has over the previous years had a good record of the student’s educational and discipline performance.
The school is currently facing disciplinary issues that need high level skilled personnel to curb down the irregularities that occur within the school and those that may occur outside with the involvement of SOS Technical high school’s students.
To strengthen our disciplinary framework, we propose to engage a qualified professional consultant on daily basis to lead initiatives and implement best practices in student discipline.
2. Objectives
Assessment of Current Practices: Review existing discipline policies and practices within the school.
Development of Strategies: Develop tailored strategies to address disciplinary issues, including proactive measures to prevent misconduct.
Training and Capacity Building: Provide training for SOS Technical school staff on effective discipline management and conflict resolution techniques.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of discipline strategies and provide ongoing support.To help people develop self-control and appropriate behaviors.
Disciplined people are able to: Postpone pleasure, Consider the needs of others, be assertive without being aggressive or hostile, and Tolerate discomfort when necessary.
Develop self-discipline, prevent misbehavior, correct misbehavior, and respond to serious and chronic behavior problems
Maintain overall of security guards of the technical school
3. Consultancy summary
Following the calibre that can render the required services as aligned to the standard of the school and students, this requires SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda to hire a highly qualified and experienced consultant in Human Resource Management, this Candidate will be hired through SOS CV Rwanda Procurement processes.
The Discipline Master is responsible for the oversight of standards pertaining to discipline and the preservation of disciplinary integrity, together with the School Principal.
4. Duties, Deliverables, Profile and Compensation Duties
The Discipline Master is expected to serve in this capacity by fulfilling the following responsibilities and deliverables;
Advise the School Principal in making decision regarding the discipline of students and teachers;
Assist the School Principal in developing a school discipline policy that aims at character formation;
Handle administrative matters related to student discipline;
Establish and lead a school discipline team to plan and develop student discipline work with specific objectives for the school community;
Coordinate all events organized by the school discipline committee;
Participate in other functional team meetings to ensure that the concerns of school discipline needs are catered for;
Assist the school management in the establishment of any codes of conduct necessary and other behavioural program deemed necessary;
Advise the leadership team, staff and parents on issues related to students’ behaviour in accordance to existing policies, school rules and regulations;
Work hand in hand with teachers to Promote and maintain peace and order at school;
Deliverables
A detailed report on the assessment of current discipline practices;
A comprehensive discipline policy document;
Training materials and records of training sessions conducted;
A monitoring and evaluation framework for discipline practices;
Regular progress reports during the consultancy period
5. Required Qualifications:
• Masters deagree in Education, Counseling, Educational Psychology or any other related discipline with five (5yrs) years of experience assuming similar responsibilities in a school Or
• Bachelors’ degree in Education, Counseling, Educational Psychology or any other related discipline with five (7yrs) years of experience assuming similar responsibilities in a school.
• Must be having skills and knowledge in regard to security proven by certificates

• Practical computer skills of Microsoft office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel,)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and training ability
• Fluent in both Kinyarwanda and English and good knowledge of written in both languages
• Proven experience in educational discipline management;
• Strong understanding of student behavior management theories and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
7. Recommendation
To proceed with the hiring of a Disciplinary Master on a consultancy basis, the following steps are recommended:
Advertisement: Publish a call for individual consultancy on the SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda website.
Selection Process: Conduct selection through the SOS CV Rwanda procurement procedures to further tender policy
Contract issuance: Issue a consultancy contract upon completion of the selection process and submission of a detailed report.
Contract Duration: One year contract renewable based on performance and availability of funds
