Empowering Youth

SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda empowers youth to utilize their full potential and tap into opportunities for employment, productivity and economic transformation.
More than a thousand young people have been cared for and half of them have finished their studies and are now leading independent lives.

SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda partners with the Ministry of Youth and Culture and youth agencies such as the National Youth Council, Workforce Development Authority, Business Development Fund, private companies and other stakeholders to build the capacity of vulnerable youth living in the community in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and linkages to microfinance institutions.

SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda also provides Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programmes, apprenticeships, youth employability and entrepreneurial skills, access to finance, strengthens youth peer dialogue processes and networking to decision-makers and employers aligned to the Economic Transformation Pillar of Rwanda’s National Strategy for Transformation (NST1) which pledges to create 214,000 decent and productive jobs annually.
The four-year YouthCan! Labour market integration of young people”project will support 650 young people with improved employability and labour market integration in the four districts Gicumbi, Nyamagabe, Kayonza and Gasabo.

The TVET-Partnership project and Partner Rwanda project advance the implementation of Dual Programs in technical schools which will equip vulnerable youth living in the community with advanced technical skills in electricity, welding and plumbing, and short training in Sales and Customer care which enhances opportunities to be easily hired by companies or get self-employed upon graduation. The two projects are financed through the German educational organization BuildungsWerk (BiWe).
