Context of the position:
SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda is an independent, non-governmental social development & child-focused organization. The Organization supports vulnerable children and young people in four locations of Kigali, Gicumbi, Kayonza and Nyamagabe. SOS Rwanda applies a holistic right-based approach to improve the quality of vulnerable children’s life and their families. The family strengthening program supports in the prevention of child family separation and SOS leverages on its impact to scale up interventions that promote child rights, child protection, family economic wellbeing and enhanced gatekeeping. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda therefore seeks to internally recruit two Field Officers to support the implementation of family strengthening program across for program locations (Kigali, Byumba, Kayonza and Gikongoro).
The FSP Field Officer is responsible for facilitating the capacity building of FSP supported families, communities and duty bearers to effectively protect and care for children in collaboration with local authorities to enable children who are at risk of losing the care of the families to grown within a caring family environment.
Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
Facilitate the formation and development of Community Task Force to spearhead the programme;
Facilitate the identification and training of community facilitators in Family Development Planning.
Maintaining and updating files for programme participants.
Support Community Task Force, families and communities in the assessment of root causes leading to child abandonment at family and community levels through use of appropriate participatory tools.
Support the programme coordinator in the consolidation of Family Development Plans and preparation of budgets relevant to the attainment of programme’s goal.
Facilitate families’ access to essential services required to fulfil their children’s developmental needs and rights;
Facilitate the development, with full participation of the supported households, of an appropriate individual household IGA/business & FS plan to meet the economic & nutritional needs of vulnerable households;
Organise and facilitate the relevant IGA & FS training of households identified for IGA support;
Identify opportunities for OVC supportive partnerships within the programme area;
Make a recommendation as to whether a family (or individual child) should exit the programme. Submit this recommendation to the programme Manager, for consideration by the programme management structure;
Carry out regular home visits to families on the programme and write home visit reports.

Required Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Sociology, Development Studies, Rural Development, Education or any other related discipline with at least one (1) year of relevant experience in implementing community development or OVC support programmes.
Required Competencies
Understanding and ability to apply community development participatory methodologies.
Having Skills in driving motorcycle (Possession of a driving license category A) will be an added advantage.

Context of the Organisation:
SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda is an independent member association affiliated to the SOS Federation. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda leverages existing community resources to strengthen quality childcare and protection through a holistic continuum of care tailored to orphans, vulnerable children, and their families. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda actively advocates for the promotion of childcare and child rights. In Rwanda, SOS Children’s Villages operate in four locations based in Gasabo, Gicumbi, Kayonza and Nyamagabe Districts. SOS Children’s Villages is seeking to recruit a Competent Project Coordinator to support the implementation of Kura Umenye project activities in Kigali location.
Context of the position:
Kura Umenye project aims to tackle the root causes of predominant problems affecting children’s well-being and their educational outcomes. The project leverages on a continuum of approaches to address children’s low performance in school including remedial learning, MHPSS, ASRHR and family strengthening initiatives. Kura umenye supports children in 120 schools in 10 districts in Rwanda. It also promotes the socio-economic wellbeing of vulnerable families and ensures Mental health wellbeing of children and parents. The project coordinator therefore supports the project in ensuring quality and effective delivery of the program among the target population. The coordinator supports families, communities, and duty bearers to effectively protect and care for children. The Project Coordinator, supports project development in the field of family strengthening and Reintegration, MH&PSS and ASRHR, and Education and remedial Learning. He/she will be responsible to support children who are at risk of losing the care of their biological family which includes direct work with the children, caregivers, and communities, based on the professional social work practice, ethics, and values to achieve the sustainable development of the families .He/she will be also responsible for ensuring the timely completion of the case management procedures at all stages based on the individual approach and the active participation of children, parents/caregivers.

Facilitate the identification and training of community facilitators in the family development process (FDP);
Facilitate the identification of opportunities and mobilization of local resources for the action plan to meet the needs of each household and community;
Facilitate the planning of ensuring gender balance in decision-making and all programme processes;
Facilitate the development, with full participation of the supported households, of an appropriate individual household Income Generating Activities (IGAs)/Business and FS plan to meet the economic and nutritional needs of vulnerable households;
Organise and facilitate the relevant IGA and FS training of households identified for IGA support;
Create and regularly update the records and database of IGA and FS-supported households;
Collaborate with community development structures, other NGOs and government departments for effective service delivery to programme participants;
Prepare and submit timely progress reports to the FSP manager on programme interventions;
Understand the synergy and different roles of Family Strengthening Programme team members and other SOS Facilities;
Supports Kura Umenye managers in the development of services and interventions in the frame of family strengthening and reintegration, MH&PSS and ASRHR, and Education and remedial Learning.
Conducts comprehensive assessment of children and families in strong cooperation with the multidisciplinary team of stakeholders using different resources and social work techniques/methods to identify family needs and strengths and define the required services.
Facilitates the preparation of the family development process, with the strong participation of caregivers, children, and the multidisciplinary team.
Arrange, provide and coordinate the delivery of services to children and families in strong partnership with other service providers and in line with the family development process.
Play a leading role and support the National Association in project planning and other planning instruments according to the organizational strategic vision and recommend further improvement of the logical framework;
Assist the Organization in enhancing an integrated process of planning, programming, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, research, analysis, and present information gathered from diverse sources.
Required Qualification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social work/Sciences, Education, Project Management, Development studies or any other related discipline with three (3 yrs) years relevant working experience in project coordination, community development field, and child protection;
Required Competencies
• Experience in project cycle management;
• Positive and professional approach. Ability to work independently, self-organise, use initiative, fulfil commitments and meet deadlines;
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including written and spoken English; French would be an added value;
• Well-developed facilitation, group leadership and presentation skills;
• Ability to develop guidelines and tools, and oversee their implementation;

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Head of location leads the overall development and implementation of an SOS Children’s Villages Programme (CVP) Location and represents SOS CV in government and non-governmental stakeholders’ meetings in the location. Gikongoro location serves 3 districts ( Nyamagabe, Huye and Nyaruguru) in the southern province.
She/he coordinates the CVP activities and interventions and ensures quality and effectiveness of services through quality assurance and optimal use of resources.
The Head of location reports to the Director of Programmes and is a member of the National Management team. He/she participates in all NMT meetings and activities and coordinates all program and administrative engagements on behalf of SOS in his/her area of intervention.

Key results areas/main responsibilities:
Programme development and management
Contributes to programmes development and leads the implementation of programmes in the Location in line with the SOS Care Promise and related international and national SOS policies, strategies, quality standards, and guidelines.
Leads the implementation of the programme management cycle including the CVP planning process as part of MA annual and strategic planning to ensure that interventions are relevant to the local context, respond to the needs of the target group, and contribute to the development of sustainable social support systems.
Coordinates and ensures cooperation between all areas of work within the CVP (specialised as well as general support work).
Regularly reports on CVP activities and progress towards targets to DoP/DND and relevant National Office functions.
Promotes child protection initiatives at the CVP location including response in emergencies
Ensures that the CVP is supportive to the identity of the SOS Children’s Villages Organisation.
People Management
• In collaboration with Head of HROD she/he establishes appropriate staffing patterns and ensures full staffing of the CVP.
• Leads Programme Units Coordinators in managing staff in the location
• Ensures compliance of the HR Cycle in the CVP following national and legal requirements.
• Participates in the recruitment and on boarding of the Programme units’ coordinators and programme staff in the location, as well as provides input into annual performance appraisals
• Coordinates CVP management team.
• Facilitates cooperation and information flow between National Office staff and their counterparts in the location (according to the national annual plan, job descriptions and NMT agreed procedures).
Financial and Administrative Management
• Ensures efficient and transparent financial management at the Location as the overall location budget holder
• Leads the budgeting process in the location and monitors budget expenditures in cooperation with Programme Units Coordinators and Finance staff at national and local levels in order to ensure that funds are properly used.
• Builds accountability in the programme by ensuring effective implementation of financial and administrative procedures, in accordance with defined policies, guidelines and standards.
• Continually looks for ways to provide quality services in a cost-effective manner.
• Ensures efficiency through best use/sharing of resources across different programme units.
• Ensures SOS CV procedures are adhered to in all administration, logistics and maintenance activities of the Location
• The Head of CVP Location is overall accountable for good facility maintenance of the CVP Location; Technical work like execution, supervision and procurement are carried out by competent staff.
Quality Management, Monitoring and Evaluation
• Is overall responsible for quality management in the CVP Location and ensures the implementation of national and international quality standards with guidance and monitoring from function staff in the National Office.
• Monitors the implementation of recommendations from national and international quality audits and evaluations.

• Support in concept note development to address issues affecting vulnerable children and families in the areas of intervention

Fund Development and Public Relations
• Promotes the organisation in the public and identifies potential income sources in cooperation with the Fund Development & Communications function in the National Office and/or the ND.
• Coordinates location self-financing initiatives within the frame of targets agreed during the strategic planning process.
Data Protection policy awareness and compliance
Work in collaboration with HR, Strategic Planning & MEAL, FDC and other departments to facilitate all staff to be aware of data protection policy and its implementation to ensure; At all times the personal data of donors, sponsors, SOS CV beneficiaries and their families as well as SOS co-workers is handled confidentially and in accordance with prevailing SOS-Kinder Dorf International data protection rules and regulations.
Required Qualification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Project management, Social Sciences, Sociology, Education, Rural Development, Psychology, Business Administration or any other related discipline with five (5) years of relevant working experience in International NGOs and managing projects funded by International Donors and four (4yrs) years proven experience in Leadership and People Management
• Having a Master ‘s Degree will be an added value
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
• Prior experience managing children-focussed interventions will be an added value
• Understanding of international child right frameworks, child safeguarding, child, mental health and psychosocial support

Job summary
The Driver will be responsible for the transportation of SOS staff only when they are involved in work related activities and SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda property as assigned by the supervisor.
The position holder will therefore be responsible for the following tasks
Control and ensure the good state of the vehicle
Report any accidents or injuries to supervisors immediately
Perform minor reparation of the vehicle
Prepare the vehicle maintenance forms
Prepare the requisition of any repairment or maintenance
Perform vehicle inspection such as checking fluid level and tire pressure
Notify supervisors about any major repairs and maintenances
Use the Organization’s car in work related activities only
Drive vehicles to designated destinations as per the request of supervisors
Drive safely and ensure reaching the destination on time
Analyze destination, determine appropriate routes and maintain schedule
Respect driving laws and road regulations
Maintain the vehicle clean and safe

Job summary:

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Job summary:
The school teacher greatly contributes to the intellectual, spiritual, moral and physical development of the young children assigned to her/his class. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leads all activities within the assigned class
• Prepares lesson plans and outlines in accordance with the curriculum guidelines, requirements of the school and the appropriate regulatory authorities.
• Teaches lessons and facilitates or supervises a variety of non-academic activities which may include art, crafts, story-telling, sports, nature walks etc.

2. Creates a stimulating learning environment

Job summary:
The School Secretary/Cashier reports to the Principal of the School and receives technical supervision from the Location Accountant. His/her major responsibility is to ensure the proper receiving and management of funds at the school level including but not limited to Secretarial roles
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Functions related to petty cash handling
• Maintain the cash register (cash entry and exit movements);
• Carry out cash receipts/disbursements on behalf of School;

I. Human Resources, Organizational & Development role
1. Key responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include coordinating staff employment matters, and ensuring that established guidelines, policies and procedures are complied with in staff recruitment, orientation and management, with particular reference to the SOS Human Resource policy guidelines; development of systems for managing staff performance, reward and motivation; development of HR policies; aligning local HR practices to international practices and standards; implementing HR manual, as well as communicating and orienting staff on new or amended HR policies.
S/he will lead the staff training and development function, seeking and implementing programmes that help staff gain new skills and sharpen their abilities for better performance.
Through balanced action, s/he will be an advocate for both staff concerns and relations and the organisation’s desired direction. She/he will apply knowledge of current labour laws to the NA staff conditions of service. She/he will also be strongly involved in matters of staff counselling and discipline, ensuring that staff get up-building advice and that such cases are conducted with due fairness. She will constantly seek information and resources on a wide range of topics of HR importance, and promptly communicate them to management to support them in their day-to-day responsibilities.
Owing to the highly sensitive and strategic nature of what is involved, the position of Head of HROD shall regularly consult, and work very closely with the National Director on major aspects of his/ her work, also advising him on various HR matters. Other Responsibilities
• Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the DOS, Principal or members of the SOS management team and any duties that the principal deems necessary for the effective operation of the school Supervises extra-mural activities such as organized sports, clubs etc.
• Performs administrative or other extra duties as required by the principal, such as store keeping, producing the school magazine or organizing school events.
• Maintains all furniture and equipment within the classroom in good order.
• Behaves in an exemplary manner at all times acting as a role model for the children.
• Keeps educational documents required by the school.
• At all times ensures that personal data of donors, sponsors, SOS CV beneficiaries and their families as well as SOS co-workers is handled confidentially and in accordance with prevailing SOS-Kinder Dorf International data protection laws.
• Performs other reasonable duties as may be required by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
• Appropriate degree, with or other teaching qualification
• Minimum three years’ teaching experience
• Familiarity with the National Curriculum of Rwanda
• Passion for teaching and commitment to educating each child
• A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities
• Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnics.
• A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.

Context of the position
SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda is an independent member association affiliated to the SOS Federation. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda leverages existing community resources to strengthen quality childcare and protection through a holistic continuum of care tailored to orphans, vulnerable children, and their families. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda actively advocates for the promotion of childcare and child protection. In Rwanda, SOS Children’s Villages operate in four locations based in Gasabo, Gicumbi, Kayonza and Nyamagabe Districts. We have recently extended our scope to seven more districts including Huye, Musanze.Rwamagana, Bugesera, Kamonyi, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge districts.
