Position title: Discipline Master in TVET School
Working location: Kigali/ Kagugu
Supervisor: School Principal
Deadline: Thursday 19th September 2024

Context of the position:

SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda is an independent, non-governmental social development organization. The Organization supports vulnerable children and young people in four locations of Kigali, Byumba, Kayonza, and Gikongoro. SOS Rwanda applies a one program approach in its education and family strengthening that support a holistic approach in the interest of the child. In this regard, SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda seeks to recruit one competent Discipline Master for its Technical High School based in Kigali Gasabo District.

Job summary:

The Discipline Master is responsible for the oversight of standards pertaining to discipline and the preservation of disciplinary integrity, together with the School Principal.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Ensure the student’s discipline is maintained;
• Supervise all extra- curricular activities;
• Support students in relation to health issues;
• Advise the leadership team, staff and parents on issues related to students’ behavior in accordance to existing policies, school rules and regulations;
• Work hand in hand with teachers to Promote and maintain peace and order at school;
• Manage discipline related issues raised by teachers and parents and recommend possible solutions;
• Maintain records of students who may need advice regarding discipline;
• Ensure that students’ rights in the school community are observed and respected;
• Orient, guide and share SOS HG Technical High School’s expectations from students;
• Conduct further research or study in the improvement of student discipline

Specific Duties:

• Advise the School Principal in making decision regarding the discipline of students and teachers;
• Assist the School Principal in developing a school discipline policy that aims at character formation;
• Handle administrative matters related to student discipline;
• Establish and lead a school discipline team to plan and develop student discipline work with specific objectives for the school community;
• Coordinate all events organized by the school discipline committee;
• Participate in other functional team meetings to ensure that the concerns of school discipline needs are catered for;
• To assist the school management in the establishment of any codes of conduct necessary and other behavioral program deemed necessary

Required Qualifications:

• At least a Bachelors’ degree in Education, Counseling, Educational Psychology or any other related discipline with five (5yrs) years of experience assuming similar responsibilities in a school.
Required Competencies
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Analytical thinking
• Sound judgement
• Effective communication skills for dealing with students, parents, teachers and support staff
• Must have impeccable integrity and diligence
• Ability to work with various administrative levels
• Practical computer skills of Microsoft office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel,)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and training ability
• Fluent in both Kinyarwanda and English and good knowledge of written in both languages How to
