March 7th 2019 at Hermann Gmeiner Training Center in Kigali, Digital Television Company StarTimes and SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda signed a partnership agreement that will see the two organizations support vulnerable children and families, with an emphasis on empowering young people.
The MOU will see StarTimes support SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda youths especially in technical skills development, training and mentorship, alongside driving access to digital television. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda will benefit from media exposure on the StarTimes platform as well as through programme sponsorships.
In his remarks, StarTimes Chief Executive Officer Mr. YUCHANG JING, noted, “During 2017 YouthConnekt Africa Summit in Rwanda, we went one step further. StarTimes president vowed to empower and provide more job opportunities to African young people.
Mr. YUCHANG JING emphasized that Startimes considered SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda as a reliable partner due to its activities of providing quality care to vulnerable children and families. “He emphasized that the MoU is for two years but with our joint work together it will be extended “.

The Board Chairman and Legal Representative of SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda Mr. Jean Gakwaya thanked StarTimes for considering SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda as a great partner to work with. He noted that SOS Child SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda implements its programme without support of various partners and individuals who have children at heart. Mr. Gakwaya encouraged other partners to continue supporting SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda in order to help children build their future noting that by supporting SOS CVs Rwanda you can expect big results.

The event was attended by the SOS CVs Rwanda Board of Directors, Staff members from Startimes, SOS staff, young people and a big number of members from the media fraternity.
