SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda, a leading childcare organization in Rwanda has appointed Mr Liberal Seburikoko as the new National Director effective 17th June 2019.
Liberal has over 15 years’ experience, working across a diverse range of issues. He brings expertise in management, multi-stakeholder facilitation and organisational development as well as a strong track record of working on policy issues both at national and international levels. He has worked with a number of African governments, private sector and civil society organisations supporting them with policy review and development, negotiations, fund development and people management.

He has worked on a number of projects with a strong capacity building component, both within Rwanda government institutions (e.g. NISR, MINAGRI, MINIRENA, FONERWA, etc) and international organisations such as DFID where he worked for many years. He is an internationally accredited Organisational Development Practitioner and holds an MBA in Finance.” In his welcome remarks during a meeting with staff and National Management Team, the Chairman of the Board and Legal Representative Mr Jean Gakwaya emphasized that the Board of Directors recruited a resourceful person who could blend leadership skills and operational excellence with an ability to love and understand vulnerable children as well as develop the whole organisation. He extended his appreciation to the National Management Team for the great work performed on diverse and pertinent issues during a one year transition period.
The new ND complimented the team for impact registered over the last 40 years and applauded their tremendous loyalty to the organisation and resilience throughout that period. He highlighted three key skills that the team needed to hone in as distinguishing features as it embarks on its next chapter of SOS CVs story in Rwanda namely a) Creativity- encouraging the team to be open-minded and to create an environment where creativity works for all, b) Collaboration-citing that systemic challenges are addressed only when there is collaboration with a shared vision and c) Empathy – SOS CVs noble cause requires compassion to yield positive results.
Jean Gakwaya urged all staff members to support Liberal and collaborate with him to bring positive change, hope, love and joy in the lives of vulnerable children.
